Westminster Bridge crosses the River Thames between Westminster and Lambeth, and links the Palace of Westminster with County Hall and the London Eye.
The bridge is painted predominantly green, representing the leather seats in the House of Commons, and in contrast to Lambeth Bridge which is painted red to represent the seats in the House of Lords.
The bridge is constructed of wrought iron and is London's oldest bridge. The current bridge was opened in 1862 to replace a notoriously wobbly and dangerous overpass that opened in 1750.
